Winter & Xmas in Arizona

Tuesday 20th December, 2022

Greetings from the San Tan RV Trailer Village here in Chandler, Phoenix, Arizona. I arrived here 4-days ago for a 3-month stay. My Qantas B787 Dreamliner delivered me safely across the Pacific from Sydney to Los Angeles last Friday.

Here's a quick update on what is happening since my arrival here in Chandler.

Firstly, it's Winter here in America and I can’t believe how cold it is here in the desert. Normally, the Sonoran Desert provides ample Winter subtropical warmth, but at present it is 2°C (32°F), I have the furnace cranked up in the trailer to 26°C (80°F).

Right now it is 6:30am, it is still pitch dark out side, glad l am not a homeless dude here at the moment otherwise you would freeze to death.

I am having a terrible time with my sleep pattern this time around, first night I slept for 12-hours straight, the following night I did not sleep a wink, so last night I decided to pop half a sleeping pill & ended up with about 6-hours looking at the insides of my eyes, still feel like shit.

I decided to set up my communications with my mobile phone & internet connections. Well that is another story.

Can you believe this, my brand new Apple iPhone 14 is useless here in America, Verizon or AT&T won’t accept my new Aussie Apple phone, apparently it can not be linked up to their cellular system. My choices were; either purchase a new phone for $400 or purchase a pay as you go phone from Walmart for $25.

My local mate, Sammy has recently just bought a new Apple phone & said that I could use his old Apple 6 while I am here which was very good of him, so I now have a phone & a local telephone number. What a hassle I had all day yesterday getting all that organised.

Not only that I decided to get my iPad connected so that I can send emails instead of using Sammy’s email connection, which makes it more convenient for me instead of going over to his office on the property all the time when I want to read my emails or to forward emails, just makes it a whole lot more easier for me so that I am not always looking for an email address where ever I am.

However to do that they also wanted my Social Security number, of which I do not have. Anyway to cut a long story short, because Sammy has lent me his old phone somehow we managed to bypass that regulation, so now I have a mobile phone to use here & also an iPad that I can use 24/7 no matter where I am.

Apart from that I have also been trying to start my fleet of cars & get them prepared for rego & insurance some time this week. There is plenty to do, so I am not letting the grass grow under my feet.

After 3.5 years in parked storage, my RV has two blown tyres, so today I need to contact a tyre company that will come on site to remove and replace the tyres, I can’t move it while I have those two blow outs.

That will be my priority today, plus I need to buy new batteries for everything, they are all unserviceable because of lack of use for 3 1/2 years. As usual with car problems, it's nothing that money can’t fix.

That’s it for now, I must get myself dressed & hit the road and running, no time to waste.

My journey South in the Porsche

Thursday 24th November - 2022

It's great to be back out on the sensational open Aussie roads once again. This time, I am away with the Cronulla RSL's Motoring Enthusiasts (MEG) Car Group for 5-day road trip.

Looking forward to the next few days because they are a nice bunch of people. I have never ventured away with this group previously. If you can believe it, there are another four Porsches in our group, five including my 1977 Porsche 911, 2.7 Coupe.

We departed Sydney yesterday, I joined 30 fellow members & their cars, and we drove south to Mt.Ousley, where we stopped for morning tea & then pressed on inland to Goulburn via the scenic and narrow Macquarie Pass snaking through the Illawarra Escarpment.

In Goulburn we had lunch at the Tattersalls Hotel right opposite the Hibernian Hotel where we dined recently on the National Model A Rally in September.

While l was in Goulburn, l visited Darren at the NRMA workshop to say hello, then out to say hello to Christy at the South Goulburn Caravan Park, they both welcomed me with open arms.

I couldn’t help myself, whilst in Goulburn, I had to call into our favourite Trappers Bakery (located near the Big Ram) to purchase the foremost vanilla slice in the world to enjoy with my afternoon tea when l arrived here at the Motel later in the arvo.

Dinner this evening at the Queanbeyan Leagues Club, then back to the motel to retire for the night. Today, we are off on a scenic 126km drive to the beautiful Tidbinbilla Valley with brief stops at the Mt. Stromboli Observatory, Cotter Dam, the Canberra Deep Space Research Centre then onto lunch at Clarries, a vintage coffee shop located inside the 95-year-old Tharwa Country store in the small, but historic village of Tharwa which boasts the best (and only) pies in Tharwa.

Return to Queanbeyan via the Royalla Solar Farm and its 83,000 solar panels on Old Cooma Road. Dinner tonight at the Royal Hotel Queanbeyan.

The Spring weather is nice, not too cool so far. The frolic continues on Friday morning when we will depart Queanbeyan for our drive to Cooma, the gateway to the Snowy Mountains region. Temps will get a bit cooler as we climb up into the snow capped peaks of the alpine country.

The Porsche is running like a well oiled F1 machine, and it's turning heads where ever l go. It is now 6:00am as I type this, and time for a bacon & egg roll and then the road awaits us for today's rolling adventures.

2022 Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia’s National Rally

Friday 6th October - 2022

Towards the end of last week, I returned to Sydney late on Thursday afternoon so that I could attend Sylvanvale’s 75th Anniversary Reception at Government House that meant I had to cut short my days at the Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia’s National Rally being held in beautiful Wangaratta, Victoria.

For 12-months people have been telling me that the weather in Wangaratta is always cold no matter what time of year you visit this picturesque north-east Victorian town. How wrong that warning was.

It was clear that this year's Rally would have a strong Ned Kelly theme. Ned Kelly for those of you who do not know was Australia’s most famous or infamous Bush Ranger. Ned lived and earned his reputation in this district in the mid to late 1800s.

Steve Core, my traveling companion/navigator & myself departed Sydney early on Monday morning 3:00am (26th September) fully booted & spurred with all our winter woollies for the 7-hour road trip to Wangaratta in my 1964, Plymouth, left-hand drive, 2-door (three on-the-tree manual) special sedan.

We arrived at our Big4 North Cedars, Holiday Park on the outskirts of Wangaratta at 10:30am after a very pleasant & uneventful journey from the Sutherland Shire. Admittedly it was overcast when we arrived, however it was far from bitterly cold as l had been warned for the past year, which was great news.

Once we checked into our accommodation it was now time to start enjoying the action that the organising committee from the host Victorian Club Members had organised for all participants enjoyment.

Day 1 - Monday 26th September 2022.

A country drive south to visit the Swanpool Cinema.

Swanpool is a small rural community located on the Midland Highway between Benalla and Mansfield. Light rain tumbled down on arrival and we parked adjacent the Cinema, in a muddy car park filled with Chrysler vehicles. An impressive sight for tiny, little Swanpool. With many passing motorists stopping to take photos.

The Swanpool Cinema is a traditional and well-maintained 1950’s picture theatre run by an enthusiastic group of local volunteers. We enjoyed lunch and some automotive themed background films on arrival. That was followed by a number of short feature films in black & white selected for our viewing pleasure.

Then later in the afternoon at 6:00pm most participants meet up at Rally HQ for our evening meal in Ned’s Hideout (Wangaratta Racecourse) where l had the opportunity to catch up with many old friends & acquaintances from previous National Rallys.

With our early start, Monday had been a huge day for middle-aged men like us, so we hit the sack around 10:00pm to catch up with our beauty sleep and prepare ourselves for the following days adventures.

Day 2 - Tuesday 27th September 2022.

Drive to Yarrawonga on the banks of the Murray River for a Paddle Steamer ride and visit to local private museums.

The 80 Kms or 50 miles drive to Yarrawonga, on the Murray River, which is Australia’s longest river was very enjoyable. Once we arrived at Lake Mulwala we then boarded the Cumberoona Paddle Steamer that is no longer a paddle steamer because it is now diesel powered for a delightful 1-hour cruise around the lake in overcast, but calm weather.

After the cruise around Lake Mulwala it was now time to visit a couple of private museum collections in the area.

First cab off the rank was to visit the Graeme Ford collection, Graeme's a local collector who has organised his collection of tractors, cars and memorabilia in a large shed on his property the collection is well organised and presented, and includes household domestic goods of years gone by.

After Graeme’s farm we then moved onto Frank Keenan’s collection.

Frank is another enthusiastic, local identity intent on preserving history and has set out about collecting, cars trucks, tractors and farming equipment that was in use before he was born. It is a ramshackle collection with many unexpected gems that would excite many scrap metal merchants.

We returned to Wangaratta later in the afternoon, we took a side trip through the picturesque wine region of Rutherglen as glorious afternoon sunshine illuminated the bright yellow fields of Canola on surrounding properties.

We returned to Rally HQ at 6:00pm for dinner at Ned’s Hideout followed by a round of all-in Bingo for the punters then off to look at the inside of my eye lids for R&R for Wednesday’s adventure.

Day 3 - Wednesday 28th September 2022.

When I originally booked the Coach Tour to Shepparton many months ago to visit the Museum of Motoring Evolution (MOVE), Steve had not been included in the rally so unfortunately he missed out as the Coach was chockers with 55-people on board.

If you are passing through Shepparton, do not miss this magnificent dynamic, ever changing collection of vehicles on display, with machines from every era, and every corner of the globe. As well as Loel Thomson Costume Collection, Clayton Gramophones, telephones and radio Collection.

What we decided to do, l would still go to Shepparton for the day and l would lend the ‘64 Plymouth to Steve for him to please himself to go on his own adventure’s.

He choose to visit - Glenrowan. Steve mentioned to me later that evening that he did not actually visit the Kelly Museum itself. However he really enjoyed just walking around the picturesque town of Glenrowan taking photos & talking to the locals, he also highly recommends if you have the time to visit Glenrowan it is definitely worth the effort.

Wednesday evening was our last night in Wangaratta because Steve had to get back to Sydney to start work on Thursday evening and I also needed to be back in Sydney to attend my evening with Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beasley, AC, QC, Governor of NSW at Government House to celebrate the 75th Anniversary Reception for Sylvanvale.

It was very unfortunate that we could not complete the whole Rally, because you cannot be in two places at once.

Reports l have received from one of my fellow Chrysler tragic friends is that the weather God’s were with them for the rest of the Rally including the highly anticipated display day on Saturday morning. l have seen photographs from the display day and they are sensational, because the weather was perfect with plenty of sunshine.

Final event for this year's 16th National Chrysler Rally in Wangaratta was the Presentation Dinner, finished off a very successful event enjoyed by all those that were fortunate enough to attend.

If you are unaware of where the 17th National Chrysler Rally will be held in 2025, l have hot news straight off the press... it will be in Griffith, NSW. God willing, we all hope to be still around to see each other for another outstanding Rally in 2025.

Friday 30th September - 2022

Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Sylvanvale (1947-2012).

l am so proud to be the son of Norma & Alan Warburton and the brother of Carol Warburton.

My parents way back in 1947, (75-years ago) had the fortitude & insight along with four other families in the Sutherland Shire to be the foundation members of the Handicapped Children’s Centre of New South Wales. (now called Sylvanvale).

From those early humble beginnings in the Baptist Church at Flora Street in Sutherland, the church allowed a group of ladies who had a child with a disability, including my mum, to meet in the church hall. It started off like a playgroup & support group for the parents & children.

Sylvanvale wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the tireless work it’s founding families contributed all those 75-years ago.

Today, we support over 750 children & adults through out Sydney & the Blue Mountains with more than 20 group homes to support people (that are less fortunate than you & I) with disabilities to reach their potential.

What I am getting at is this; If it wasn’t for all that came before us, I wouldn’t have received this wonderful invitation to attend the 75th Anniversary Reception at Government House last night.

I feel so privileged to have been in the company of our very own Governor of New South Wales, Margaret Beasley, AC, QC to share this magnificent achievement & milestone in the history of Sylvanvale that my parents were the foundation members 75-years ago.

If the founding Mum’s & Dad’s could only see what the Handicapped Children’s Centre has evolved into, they would be delighted.

To come from those humble beginnings 75 years ago where they could not rub two copper coins together to now witness this multi million dollar organisation is mind boggling.

My dad passed away in June 2007, my mum passed away in April 2012 & my darling sister passed away in October 2020 (aged 75) however my parent's legacy still lives on.

My sister was one of the first children to attend the Handicapped Children’s Centre of New South Wales (now called the Sylvanvale).

My Dad in his words of wisdom would always say to me, “Don’t ever think that you cannot make a difference in this world, son”. My Mum & Dad devoted their whole life to the cause & I know they did make a difference.

Here's a little information on the Heritage-listed vice regal residence of the Governor of New South Wales, Australia. Located on the Conservatorium Road in Sydney central business district adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden, overlooking Sydney Harbour just south of the Sydney Opera House. Construction started in 1837 & was completed opened in 1845, absolutely an exquisite position.

Friday 23rd September - 2022

Hello everyone,

The ink has hardly had time to dry since I put pen to paper when I wrote my last blog about the sensational Model A Ford National Rally held in Goulburn NSW, last week & here I am now saddling myself up for the Chrysler Restorer's Club of Australia, National Rally to commence in Wangaratta, Victoria on Sunday 25th September ’22.

The Rally HQ will be at the Wangaratta Racecourse, this venue will be known as Ned's Hideout for the duration of the rally. Wangaratta is a city in the Northeast of Victoria, 236km or 147miles from Melbourne along the Hume Highway. Population 20,000.

My good traveling mate & navigator Steve Core & myself will depart Cronulla first thing on Monday morning 26th Sept for the very pleasant, 624km or 388mls casual drive that will take us approximately 7-hours in my 1964 Plymouth LHD, 2-door special sedan, that l imported from Santa Clarita, California in 2018.

These photos illustrate the two passions in my life. As you all know that l was an International Trolly-Dolly for our Iconic Australian Airline, Qantas, for 34-short years & absolutely love the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet that l did most of my flying in over all those delightful years (if it isn’t Boeing l ain’t going) & the other passion is my love of Classic & Vintage motor vehicles.

These photos were taken a couple of years ago at the HARS Aviation Museum in Albion Park, NSW, just over an hour by road south of Sydney.

I absolutely love this photograph, (especially the colours). Interestingly, these days you can no longer take this particular photograph, because the Shellharbour Council has built a new Passenger Terminal building right where my Plymouth is parked & rest assured, you definitely can not move the Qantas Boeing 747 aircraft from it’s static display.

During the upcoming week in Wangaratta, many exciting activities combined with daily driving days, one in particular the local countryside drive to see the renowned local silo art, the Swanpool Cinema, visits to Museums and taking a ride on the Murray River aboard the Cumberoona, an historic paddle & side-wheel steamer.

Saturday 1st October as is the norm for our National Rallies, Saturday is the day we display our cars for the local people to see and to judged for a range of trophy categories. The display will be held in Wangaratta's Apex Park on the banks of the Ovens River.

Unfortunately we cannot stay for the whole Chrysler Rally because l have been invited to another very special event & I can not be in two places at once. l have been invited by Her Excellency, the Honourable Margaret Beasley, AC, QC, Governor of NSW who has requested the pleasure of the company of Kenneth George Warburton at Sylvanvale’s 75th Anniversary Reception at Government House on Thursday 29th September ‘22.

You may or may not be aware that my parents, Norma & Alan Warburton were the foundation members of the Handicapped Centre of NSW, as it was formerly known. I am still actively involved with the Sylvanvale Foundation volunteering my time & services where ever or when ever needed. Myself & a team of Qantas volunteers along with the help of Sylvanvale staff organise a Pre-WWll Vintage Car Show annually to raise much needed funds for the organisation.

(Above) I'll be heading off the NSW Government House, situated next to the Sydney Opera House and adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden for a function to celebrate Sylvanvale's 75th Anniversary.

Our event is going from strength to strength every year, & is now considered the major Community event in the Sutherland Shire which helps make the residents of our area aware of Sylvanvale & the work that we do in the Shire & beyond including the Blue Mountains.

Next year's Sylvanvale Pre-WWII Vintage Car Show will be held in Sutherland on Sunday 17th September 2023, that just happens to be less than 1-year away, so please make sure that you place that date in your papyrus diary. As the son of a founding Sylvanvale Life Member, our Car Show is an event that you & your family should not miss out on.

In Wangaratta next week, I am looking forward to catching up with some of my friends from previous National Rallies & hopefully make some new friends along the way. See you there.

Final grand gathering in Goulburn...

Friday 16th September - 2022

Friday was officially the last full day of our 2022 National Rally, it saw proud owners once again displaying their strong contingent and wide variety of Model A Fords to the enthusiastic Goulburn public.

The Goulburn weather really turned it on for us once again, it was absolutely brilliant with blue skies, sunny, no wind, and a pleasant Spring-time temperature of 22°C.

There were a total of 105 Model A Fords gathered for a grand display on Montague Street in the CBD of Goulburn. Talk about set decoration; famous Australian Film Director, Baz Luhrmann could not have set it up any better.

Cars also filled the front courtyard of the Goulburn Court grounds. The Court House and Residence were built before the turn of the century and created a perfect backdrop for our early '30s-era vehicles.

The Courthouse has sprawling lawns and is surrounded by mature exotic trees. Making it and ideal location for any final Rally 'group photo' opportunities.

I just happened to run into an old mate, Ross Fitzgerald, Ross did all my electrical wiring on my 1931 Model A Ford, 2-door, Delux Tudor Sedan way back in 2012, when I restored my burnt out vehicle when I did a total body-off restoration.

It was fantastic to catch up with Ross once again for a chin wag & what better place to do that than at the legendary Paragon Café in the main drag of Goulburn. We enjoyed a nice mug of extra hot Cappuccino accompanied with vanilla slices.

In the photograph below, there were a couple of very distinguished looking gentleman parked on Montague Street and getting right into the spirit of the event, by displaying their vehicles along with their associated memorabilia and signage.

Looking at this photograph, one could easily be mistaken for thinking that this photo was taken in 1929 or early 1930s...  if you did not know any better.

What an appropriate way to finish off our very successful 2022, 27th Model A Ford National Rally. Where great experiences were had, old friendships renewed and new ones made.

Now we can all look forward to the 28th Model A Ford National Rally that will be held in 2024 in Australia's north, in sunny Queensland. When the Model A Ford Club of Queensland will be our hosts for the event. 

The 2024 National Rally will take place from the 1st-7th of September, 2024 and the theme will be: 'A' Rally through the Cane Fields. Sounds like one to pencil into your e-calendars today.

Country run to Bungendore & Braidwood

Thursday 15th September - 2022

The first sector of today's Rally road run was get off the mainstream Federal Highway and head south from Goulburn, 68Kms (42 miles) down the eastern side of a very full, endorheic Lake George, where a slice of country tranquility was waiting for us during our first stop, in the tiny township of Bungendore.

Morning tea at Bungendore was delightful, the local community really spoiled us rotten. As the nominated Parking Marshall, l managed to marshal & park only ninety-one Model A Fords in the grounds of St.Phillips Anglican Church on Gibraltar Street, all too easy for me all dressed up in my Period Costume.

After morning tea we departed Bungendore for sector number two, where we travelled a short 49Kms (30 miles) across to Braidwood where the town welcomed us with open arms. Braidwood is a heritage-listed town, renowned for its wide streets, colonial buildings brimming with antiques, cafes, specialty shops and more.

Braidwood is such a quaint town, all our vintage vehicles looked superb parked along the Kings Highway which is the main street of town, as you can see by my photographs.  

(Above) Here you can sense the charm of Braidwood's main street and its abundance of heritage listed buildings which helps maintain its nineteenth century history.

The sun stuck its head out from the clouds for about 10-minutes & l managed to take some really nice photos. l was so lucky to get the photos l did.

First of all the weather was kind to us up until we departed Braidwood for the journey home to Goulburn at 2:00pm. It started to rain on the way home just after we left Braidwood, not too heavy though.

By the time I arrived back into the 'Royal Merino Suite' at the Goulburn South Caravan Park, the rain had stopped, we were so lucky to get away with it.

l think the photo of the two ladies standing alongside the Model A Fords is pure gold, the photo of the local buskers is not too shabby either. I also like the cars parked in front of the Post Office.

On Friday morning, the last full day of the Rally, we will all form-up at Rally HQ, then proceed into town for a static Display Day in the Goulburn CBD on Montague Street from 10:00am until 1:00pm.

Friday evening continues with a Period Dress Gala Dinner in the Veolia Arena from 6:00pm. Then on Saturday morning we wrap up the 2022 National Rally with a Farewell Breakfast at Rally HQ at 8:00am.

Then we all disperse & go our separate ways for another 2-years until the 28th Model A Ford National Rally to be held in Queensland in September, 2024.

Dressed up for the NSW National Trust

Thursday 15th September - 2022

For today's Model A Ford National Rally's mandatory run from Goulburn to Braidwood, all participants are requested to wear period costume. Because today's run will be covered by a media unit from the NSW National Trust for future promotional use of the surrounding tourist regions.

It's 7:00am and I'm all ready to roll... I think I might go close to being the best dressed car parking Marshall in Braidwood today - what do you think?

Afternoon Tea at the Royal Merino Suite

Thursday 15th September - 2022

Yesterday we ventured down to our nation's Capital City (Canberra) on an excursion to the Australian War Memorial via Motorcoach.

l was completely blown away with the presentation & quality of our National War Memorial. l will go as far to say that our Australian War Memorial is up there with the best in the world, bar none.

If you have not been there put it at the top of your list next time you are in Canberra, you will not be disappointed.

We arrived back into Rally HQ in Goulburn around 2:00pm. By now, the short road trip home had raised our appetites, so l suggested that we make a visit to Trapper's Bakery (complete with a huge open log fire) that is located just around the corner from our Goulburn South Caravan Park to purchase some belated lunch.

As you can see in the photograph we settled on a couple of dogs eyes (meat pies) & vanilla slices.

Did we make the right choice for afternoon tea, how good were they, now you would definitely leave home for these two delicacies. Being such a magnificent afternoon we sat on the balcony of our ‘Merino’ Suite in the sunshine & devoured every thing in front of us.

Today, l am off on our mandatory Model A Ford Run from Goulburn to Braidwood dressed in period costume, the round trip is approximately 150 miles or 250 kms.

Seeing that l did such a good job parking all those cars at the Waterworks Museum on Tuesday, they have again given me the nod & the Hi-Viz vest and asked me to park all the vintage Model As in Braidwood today.

Unfortunately Steve will be heading back to Sydney in the morning, so l am going to lose my navigator & will be on my pat malone, hope l don’t get lost out there in sheep country.

They are predicting heavy rain from midnight tonight, let’s hope that the forecast is wrong because it will spoil our day's run.

Goulburn has never quite seen this before...

Tuesday 13th September - 2022

Hello Everybody,

Already, l am behind the 8 ball. If you don’t keep on the money & stay on top of every day’s activities there is no way that l can present a flowing blog presentation to keep you all in the loop. 

Arrived safely here at the South Goulburn Caravan Park & Rally Head Quarters in Goulburn after a very pleasant two & a half drive from the Shire in Sydney NSW where I reside.

l enjoyed a relative lazy Saturday afternoon settling in to my very cozy ‘Merino Suite’ fully self contained cabin accommodation. (see photo).

Later that afternoon a couple of my Model A Ford friends (Keith & Anne Smith) ventured out to the Goulburn Workers Club to off load our free dinner vouchers that were included in the Model A Ford Rally pack & to down a few cool ones just to start off the weeks proceeding on the right foot.

By the way the food at the Goulburn Workers Club is so good, you would leave home for it, it was absolutely delightful. Not to mention how good the Peroni beers were to wash the tucker down.

Day 1: 27th Model A Ford National Rally. Goulburn. Sunday 11th September’22.

3pm. Registration commences. It is a great joy to see so many Model A Fords (150) and their owners from all the Australian states and territories, as well as visitors from New Zealand and the U.S.A. This is a wonderful show of support and camaraderie for everybody.

Later in the afternoon we all gathered at Rally H.Q. to be greeted and welcomed to Goulburn for our introduction to the 27th National A Ford Rally by Rob Taylor our fearless Rally Secretary (see photo).

Day 2. Monday 12th September ‘22.

My good mate Steve Core arrived here in Goulburn to join me for 3 days to share his first Model A Ford Rally. Steve is my right hand man when we present our annual Sylvanvale Pre WWII Vintage Car Show to raise much need funds for my preferred charity the Sylvanvale foundation.

Once Steve settled in we enjoyed a cuppa together then decided our movements of activities for the day. I had purposely left today open, I had not pre-booked any other events because I had other plans for the day to share with Steve.

Because Steve was asked to be the photographer at the Goulburn Historic Waterworks Museum, (see opening photo) and I had raised my hand to be one of the parking attendants for this event l decided that we needed to check this place out so that we were on top of our game when (150) Model A Fords start arriving from 9:00am first thing Tuesday morning.

Once we had that all sorted l suggested that we take a 1-hour drive out to Crookwell, the coldest and windiest place in Australia where l go Trout fishing every year with a bunch of my old buddies from the Qantas Fishing Club, and also to show him the property and the Shearer’s shed that is our accommodation (see photo) when we venture to this part of the world.

Not only that l also wanted to show Steve the notorious cattle grid
(see photo) that l had an argument with three years ago. l am sure that you all remember my horrific injuries and photos that l received when l accidentally fell into that grid when l was taking photographs of my ‘57 Chevy 2 door using the back drop of those horrible windmills in the background.

Mission accomplished, by now it was time for lunch so we then drove onto Crookwell for lunch. After an enjoyable lunch it was now time to return to Goulburn and prepare ourselves for the evenings welcome event in the Veolia Stadium from 6-8:30pm.

Day 3: Tuesday 13th September ‘22.

All roads lead to the Goulburn Historic Waterworks Museum today for the display of Model A Fords for Steve and myself this morning. l am really looking forward to seeing Steve’s photographs of all the vintage vehicles at the Museum this morning all of them. Should be a sight for sore eyes.

That’s all from me for now, gotta go and prepare for my parking duties at the Waterworks Museum today and fit my Hi-Viz vest, while Steve prepares all of his photographic equipment for today’s historic event here in the first inland city in Australia.
